Dan Stovall Biography

Growing up constantly hunting and fishing in the outdoors of Arkansas, and visiting his mother's family ranch in Texas, Dan has alway had an eye for the wild, almost untamed lands of America. Landscape, figure, and wildlife drawings were a staple of the sketchbooks he filled as a child, but it wasn't until he was 17 that he met western artist and impressionist Barry Thomas, who taught him to see the color of light. Taking what he learned in those early lessons, Dan has expanded his pallet and refined his painting over years of self directed study, always keeping the effects of light at the forefront.

"To me, Western Art is the perfect confluence of two distinctly American cultures (cowboys and native americans) all taking place under a proverbial bright sun, so it was a perfect subject to tackle, that also aligned with my interests in history and horses."

When not spending time with his family, Dan can be found holding a brush, or riding a horse.
