Ralph Waldo Emerson Meyers  (1885 - 1948)

Ralph Waldo Emerson Meyers was born was born in Houghton, Michigan on May 15, 1885.

He was described by Leon Gaspard as one of the finest colorists of the period.

Meyers work was highly appreciated by Nicolai Fechin and the other founders of the Taos Society of Artists.

Moving to Taos in 1909, Meyers settled and stayed until his death in 1948.

Growing up in Denver, he was deeply influenced by Western Art.

He moved to Taos in 1909 and had first exhibition in Santa Fe at the Museum of New Mexico  in 1917.

His art was displayed along with the works of the great Taos artists

E. Martin Hennings, Joseph Henry Sharp, Mary Ufer, Walter Ufer, Herbert Dunton, and Victor Higgins.

His work is displayed in the collection of Harwood Foundation in Taos,

the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas,

the Philbrook Museum, and the Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site.
